Tom Sizemore, the ‘Saving Private Ryan’ Star Passed Away at 61 from a Brain Aneurysm

Tom Sizemore, a prominent American actor best known for his outstanding performances in popular movies such as “Saving Private Ryan” and the 2017 “Twin Peaks” revival series, has passed away at the age of 61. The news was confirmed by his long-time manager, Charles Lago, in a statement to NBC News on March 3, 2023.

In the statement, Lago expressed deep sadness and informed the public that Sizemore had passed away peacefully in his sleep at St. Joseph’s Hospital Burbank. Sizemore’s twin sons, Jayden and Jagger, and his brother Paul were present by his side in his final moments, according to Lago.

Sizemore’s passing was preceded by a brain aneurysm that led to severe health complications. Lago released a statement on February 27, confirming that the actor had suffered an aneurysm, and doctors had advised the family to make an “end of life decision.” The statement further revealed that Sizemore collapsed at his Los Angeles home on February 18 and was later rushed to the hospital by paramedics. Since that day, he remained in a coma and critical condition in intensive care.

Sadly, the family received devastating news from physicians that there was no hope for Sizemore’s recovery, and they should consider end-of-life matters. In his statement on March 3, Lago shared a message from Sizemore’s ex-wife, Maeve Quinlan, who expressed her heartfelt condolences to Sizemore’s family and extended her thoughts and prayers to his two sons.

May Tom Sizemore’s soul rest in eternal peace, and his exceptional acting talent continue to inspire many generations to come.

Charles Lago’s announcement regarding Tom Sizemore’s passing was accompanied by a statement from his brother, Paul. In his statement, Paul expressed his deep sadness over the loss of his big brother, Tom, describing him as a larger-than-life figure who had a profound influence on his life. He spoke of Tom’s talents, his loving and giving nature, and his ability to entertain with his wit and storytelling skills. Paul concluded his statement by saying that he was devastated by Tom’s passing and that he would miss him always.

Apart from his noteworthy performance in “Saving Private Ryan,” Tom Sizemore was recognized for his portrayal of Colonel Danny McKnight in “Black Hawk Down” and his appearance in “Witness Protection,” which earned him a nomination for a Golden Globe Award for best actor in a miniseries or television film. In addition to his work in film and television, Sizemore also lent his voice to the character of Sonny Forelli in the 2000 video game “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City” and reprised the role in the game’s 2021 version, “Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.”

Unfortunately, Sizemore’s career was overshadowed by legal troubles and struggles with addiction. In 2003, he was convicted of domestic violence involving his ex-girlfriend, Heidi Fleiss, who was known as the “Hollywood Madam” for running an upscale prostitution ring. He sought treatment for addiction and appeared on reality television series, including “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” and “Celebrity Rehab Presents Sober House.” In 2017, a report by The Hollywood Reporter revealed an incident from 2003 in which Sizemore was accused of sexual assault by an 11-year-old actress on the set of the movie “Born Killers.” Although he denied the claim, it added to the negative press surrounding his career.

In keeping with the family’s wishes, a private cremation service for Tom Sizemore will be held, followed by a larger celebration of his life in the coming weeks. Charles Lago made this known in his announcement on March 3.
