The recent unveiling of the first Moroccan car manufacturer’s model and a hydrogen-powered vehicle prototype developed by a Moroccan engineer demonstrates the country’s commitment to sustainable transportation. During a ceremony presided over by His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the Royal Palace in Rabat, the unveiling of the first Moroccan car manufacturer’s model and the hydrogen-powered vehicle prototype marked innovative projects that will enhance the promotion of the “Made In Morocco” label and consolidate the Kingdom’s position as a competitive platform for automobile production.
Additionally, a significant milestone in Morocco’s pursuit of sustainable mobility was reached this week with the introduction of the first hydrogen-powered SUV using removable capsules, created by Moroccan entrepreneur Faouzi Annajah. Developed in partnership with renowned Italian car designer Pininfarina and French neo-automaker NamX, this zero-emission vehicle heralds a new era in eco-friendly transportation. Faouzi Annajah, the son of a Moroccan factory worker who spent over 35 years at the Renault plant in Flins, France, unveiled the prototype at Pininfarina’s prestigious premises near Turin, Italy.
The NAMX HUV, a hydrogen-powered SUV utilizing removable capsules, is set to hit the market in 2025. “Our ambition is twofold: to become a benchmark player in zero-emission automotive industry and to continuously explore new innovations with our customers to facilitate mobility,” stated NAMX founder and president, Faouzi Annajah, during the press conference. The concept will be showcased to the public at the Paris Motor Show in October, highlighting Morocco’s contribution to the advancement of eco-conscious and innovative vehicles.
